Whats up guys my name is bart komar and in this video im going to show you exactly how i. Installed this mr cool split unit in my shop to give me heat and ac lets do it welcome to. The comar project all right guys so we just received our 24k diy kit from mr cool and the reason. I chose this is because its a diy unit and since im not a hvac guy i can still do.
This i dont have to hire any professionals come charge the lines its got the line set pre-charge the condenser. The unit itself and it comes packaged like this on a pallet so lets start unwrapping everything and get some. Ac flowing so we dont look like this because its hot in here but first i need something for this. Thing to sit on and im gonna be doing a concrete pad so a little bit of mesh some two. By fours concrete and were good to go lets do it all right so this unit is for my garage.
Which is also my workshop and the best place for it is right on the side of the house and. I have a bush problem back there that needs some addressing so that was pretty fun with the tractor but. You dont have to clear out any landscaping to install this i just wanted to get an open area so. I can work and we were gonna get rid of this landscaping anyway so this seemed like a perfect time. But now i gotta make a form for the pad and then were gonna lay out where the actual outside.

What Is A 10/3 Wire

The number 10 on the left refers to the size of the wire whereas the number 3 on the right refers to the number of conductors present in there. Therefore, a 10/3 sized wire means that it has 3 strands of 10 gauge conductors along with a ground wire. Installation Of The Condensate Drain Line
The moisture removed from the home during the cooling process travels down a plastic PVC pipe. It must be connected to the primary side of the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil has a primary and a secondary drain location. The primary condensate drain line will travel from the indoor evaporator coil to an appropriate floor drain or condensation pump.
A condensation pump is used where a proper floor drain does not exist in the home. There are also other reasons where a condensate pump is required or is beneficial to install. The important thing to remember if a condensate pump is used is that it must be serviced a minimum of twice a year to maintain proper performance.

Electrical Wiring Of Split System Air Conditioners
Energy Safe Victoria has become aware of a technical issue with the installation of wiring between the outside unit and the indoor unit on various split system air- conditioners.
The photo depicts the connection of the wiring installed between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit that has been connected / terminated incorrectly and does not comply with the conductor insulation colour identification requirements of Clause 3.8 of AS/NZS 3000:2007.
The technical issue is with the interconnecting cable terminals of both the indoor and outdoor units these terminals are labelled S1, S2 & S3 but are also distinguished by use of colour

Electricians are incorrectly connecting the wiring installed between the indoor and outdoor units to the terminal colour coding, resulting in the black conductor becoming an active conductor, the white conductor becoming a neutral conductor and the red conductor being communication.
The wiring installed between the outside unit and the indoor unit is classified as installation wiring and shall comply with the conductor insulation colours as specified in Table 3.4 of AS/NZS 3000:2007.
Should an electrician encounter this situation, immediate rectification is required.
It is most important to isolate supply, test before you touch and Lock out Tag out before starting work.

Wiring Between Disconnect Switch To Contactor:
Starting with the 240V power supply coming from disconnect a lot of times itll be a red and a black wire along with the green wire that is in there.
And you got your disconnect thats probably gonna be mounted to the side of the house itll either be a lever or breaker type.
Basically, you have 240 volts coming from your circuit breaker panel its your disconnect from the house and then from there, it goes through the electrical whip and into the contactor.
So this electrical whip will have three wires usually theyre gonna be black red green. The black wire will go to one side of the contactor then we got a red wire that will go to the other side of the contactor.
And then we have ground wire just gonna be a green that will just be mounted to the chassis. The condenser unit will have a little square screw-like strap that you put the ground wire into.
So now we have our main power supply hooked up each of the power wires is 120 volts to give us 240 volts. Those two wires are hooked up to the contactor on the L1 and L2.

This table shows the most common colors for each function. However, your wires may not be the same as the colors in the diagram. If theyre not the same, check the manufacturer and get the correct correlations.
For instance, the wire for cooling may be blue instead of yellow. Thats important to know when hooking up an AC unit to your thermostat. Also, there should be a jumper wire between RH and RC. If your jumper wire is not there, your air conditioner will not power on and off.

How Does The Contact Terminal Operate Your Air Conditioner
The two wires that you attached to the contact terminal sends power through the terminals coil. The coil will draw 24 volts from the control board, which will suck a plunger in on the contact.
Once the plunger draws into the contact, the volts will then be allowed to go through the terminal. When the plunger relaxes, the power will stop flowing through.
